More than physical therapy: Healing that sees the whole you

Have you ever left a doctor's office feeling unheard? Like just another number on a busy schedule, handed a sheet of generic exercises for a problem no one took the time to truly understand?

You knew there had to be a better way. So did we.

Movement Evolution was founded on a simple, powerful belief: effective healing happens when you are seen, heard, and respected as a whole person. We created our Washington, DC practice to be a safe space where your story matters, your goals are the priority, and your care is never one-size-fits-all. We are here to uncover the root cause of your pain and guide you on a collaborative journey to lasting strength and wellness.

Our philosophy:
The Movement Evolution difference

We are committed to a modern, evidence-based approach that goes beyond treating symptoms. Our care is built on three core principles:

One on One Sessions:

Your sense of safety is our priority. We are trained to understand the connection between physical and emotional well-being, and we foster a respectful, compassionate environment where you are always in control of your healing journey.

A Holistic, Whole-Body View:

We know that pain is complex. We look at the bigger picture—including your lifestyle, stress, and sleep patterns—to create a comprehensive plan that addresses every factor contributing to your condition.

Trauma-Informed Care:

Your sense of safety is our priority. We are trained to understand the connection between physical and emotional well-being, and we foster a respectful, compassionate environment where you are always in control of your healing journey.

Meet your dedicated team.

Dr. Julie Auman

PT, DPT Founder & Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist

I believe true healing goes beyond treating a body part—it’s about feeling safe, supported, and confident in your body. I founded Movement Evolution to be the kind of clinic I always wished existed: one that sees you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis.
My passion for the mind–body connection led me to advanced training in chronic pain science, the gut–brain axis, holotropic breathwork, and meditation. This holistic approach helps uncover the root cause of pain instead of chasing symptoms. As someone who enjoys basketball, yoga, surfing, and weightlifting, I understand the importance of returning to the activities you love.
I earned my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine and am a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), a distinction held by fewer than 10% of physical therapists.
