Dr. Julie Auman
PT, DPT, OCS

Julie received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2015 from the University of St. Augustine in Florida. She completed a residency program and received a nationally recognized board certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2019. Julie has taken course work to support her mission in understanding the mind-body connection including various chronic pain courses, holotropic breathing and meditation, the gut-brain-body axis, manual therapy, and trigger point dry needling.

Julie is actively engaged in physical and emotional wellness both personally and professionally. She enjoys a variety of physical activities like yoga, surfing, basketball, swimming, and weight lifting on a regular basis. She feels that her personal experiences enhance her understanding of her clients' challenges. Healing and true injury prevention is about feeling safe, supported, and confident and Julie strives to develop an understanding of each client's perspective to assist in this.

Movement Evolution was started in 2021 as a way to bridge the gaps Julie saw in standard health care that limit progress and recovery due to insurance company restrictions. Her goal is to provide authentic and transparent care as well as quality resources to her clients.

What is holistic physical therapy?

At Movement Evolution, we take a full service, holistic approach, to your care. Holistic physical therapy means that we are listening to your entire story to determine how stress, sleep, nutrition, trauma, medications, belief systems, and much more could be contributing to your pain or movement patterns.

We take a look at your breathing pattern and relate it to how you may handle stress. Then we work on normalizing that.

This is very helpful with chronic pain cases but you would be surprised how much it contributes to every case.  If we notice something that could be beneficial, we work on it.

Orthopedic and holistic physical therapy together

As a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, Julie has a wealth of knowledge and experience with athletic injuries. We assess your movement patterns and functional mobility that is specific to your sport or your activity of choice. Then we design an individualized program to normalize your movement and enhance mobility.

Orthopedic physical therapy works well in conjunction with a holistic approach as many times some athletes are overtraining while others may be undertraining, nutrition may not be a focus, stress and trauma can contribute to barriers in recovery. Identifying additional barriers to your progress outside of the orthopedic ones can take your training, understanding of your body, and preventative care to a whole new level.
